Drug Discovery Virtual Events
We’re pleased to announce two free virtual events of interest to the
drug discovery community.
Stanford Drug Discovery Symposium
Keystone Symposia was pleased to partner with the Stanford
Cardiovascular Institute recently to produce a video archive of
content from the Stanford Drug Discovery Symposium, held April 23-24,
2018 at the Li Ka Shing Conference Center at Stanford University.
Nineteen videos of talks and panel discussions are available to view
featuring leaders including Ken Frazier, CEO of Merck; Janet Woodcock,
Director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the FDA;
Marc Tessier-Lavigne, President of Stanford University; and Sanford
Weill, Chairman Emeritus of Citigroup. Special thanks to Joseph Wu,
the lead organizer of this dynamic event and a member of Keystone
Symposia’s Scientific Advisory Board.

A Discussion with Chris Lipinski and Barry Bunin: Going Beyond the Rule of 5
Our colleagues at Collaborative Drug Discovery (CDD) are offering
another free virtual event in September. Lipinski’s Rule of 5 has
become the established benchmark by which almost all drug discovery
analyses are now compared. This promises to be a lively conversation;
it will explore new technologies to better assess the quality of
screening data and will include questions from the audience.
Time and Date: September 13, 2018 @ noon ET.

using deterministic models, stochastic models, and compartmental
models, (2) Analyze clinical and experimental data from collaborators
using machine learning and bioinformatics approaches, (3)Develop novel
algorithms to treat diseases, and (4) Publish research findings in
scientific journals and present them at major scientific meetings.
Qualifications: A bachelor/MSc degree in a quantitatively-oriented
field, such as engineering, computer science or applied mathematics.
Excellent command of English. Knowledge in analytical and quantitative
methods. Experience in MATLAB, Python or R, and LaTex. Knowledge of
immunology is a plus.
Please send questions or your application with a motivation letter,
outlining your interest in a PhD position, along with your curriculum

Subject: The Michigan Life Sciences Postdoc. Fellows Program
Applications are now open for the University of Michigan Life Sciences
Postdoctoral Fellows Program. The program is seeking early-career
researchers of exceptional promise in the biological sciences — all
major subfields are of interest. Applicants must be less than six
months post-degree (Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D.) at the time of application, or
graduate students in the final year of their doctoral degree. Degree
confirmation must to be provided prior to the start of the fellowship.
The program will support fellows with training skills in a broad set
of skills necessary for a successful career in research, including
scientific writing, oral presentation, grant writing, lab management
and applying for jobs.
International students are welcome to apply. Although this program is
open to all, women, first-generation college students, and minorities
underrepresented in the sciences are strongly encouraged to apply.
Finalists will be invited to present their work at the University of
Michigan on November 26 and 27, 2018, with travel expenses paid by the
program. For more information, please visit:
