Subject: IPAM Workshop: Women in Mathematical Biology, Jun 17-21

The application deadline is approaching for the “Collaborative
Workshop for Women in Mathematical Biology” which will be held at the
Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics June 17-21, 2019.
Applications received by December 1, 2018 will receive priority. This
workshop will tackle a variety of biological and medical questions
using mathematical models to understand complex system dynamics.
Working in collaborative teams of 4-5, each with a senior research
mentor, participants will spend a week making significant progress
with a research project and foster innovation in the application of
mathematical, statistical, and computational methods in the resolution
of significant problems in the biosciences.

Subject: Tenth Workshop Dynamical Systems Applied…, Napoli, Feb 3-6

In the just ending framework of the “Year of Mathematical Biology”, we
are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Workshop Dynamical Systems
Applied to Biology and Natural Sciences (DSABNS)!

The purpose of this email is to invite you, on behalf of the
Organizers, to participate at the upcoming DSABNS 2019. The Tenth
Workshop Dynamical Systems Applied to Biology and Natural Sciences
will be held in the Congress Center of the University of Napoli
Federico II, Napoli, Italy, from February 3rd to February 6th, 2019.

The Conference has both theoretical methods and practical applications
and the abstracts included in the program cover research topics in
population dynamics, epidemiology of infectious diseases, eco-
epidemiology, molecular and antigenic evolution and general
methodological topis and mathematics applied to natural sciences,
ecology, biology and bioengineering.

THERE IS NO REGISTRATION FEE. However registration is required.
Participants are kindly requested to register by January 10th, 2019.

For more information, please visit:

Project: Developing mathematical tools for image analysis to evaluate
the effects of regenerative medicine therapies on kidney function.
University of Liverpool, UK

This project is one of 15 PhD/Early Stage Researcher (ESR) positions
fully funded by the EU’s Marie Sklodowska Curie Innovative Training
Network RenalToolBox. More information about the network’s goals are

To qualify as a candidate, the applicants must satisfy the following
requirements: (i) must not have resided in the host country for more
than 12 months in the last 3 years, and (ii) must be in the first four
years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research
careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree. Researchers will
benefit from full Marie Sklodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher
allowances as set by the European Commission, secondments in academia
and industry, training and transferable-skills courses and active

Subject: Tenure-track Assistant Prof Position, UNC-Chapel Hill

The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track assistant
professor. The department expects applicants will demonstrate the
potential for excellence in research, teaching at the graduate and
undergraduate level, and institutional service. Candidates with
research interests in any area of applied and computational
mathematics are encouraged to apply. We particularly seek candidates
who are specifically interested in building strong interdisciplinary
collaborations, including with faculty in UNC’s College of Arts and
Science, School of Medicine, Eshelman School of Pharmacy, and/or
Gillings School of Global Public Health. A PhD degree in mathematics,
applied mathematics, or a closely related field is required at the
time of appointment.

Subject: Full/Associate Prof position, Worcester Polytechnic Institute

The Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Department of Mathematical
Sciences invites applications for a senior position at the associate
or full professor level to begin in the fall of 2019. The broad focus
is in the area of systems biology and biological networks. This
position is part of a broad cluster hire initiative in systems biology
at WPI, which has already resulted in junior hires in the past years.
We seek candidates that use sophisticated analytical or computational
techniques to determine emergent properties of complex systems.
Possible areas of expertise include but are not limited to networks,
multiscale modeling, control theory, dynamical systems, and stochastic
modeling. The successful applicant will be an acknowledged
international leader in the area of systems biology, with an exemplary
track record in research, funding, and education. The applicant must
also be able to contribute to WPI’s growing interdisciplinary programs,
in particular to the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology program,
of which the Department of Mathematical Sciences was a co-founder. The
successful applicant is expected to assume a leadership role in the
system biology research cluster, maintain a high-quality research
program and contribute to the teaching mission of the institute both
at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Founded in 1865, WPI is one
of the nation’s first technological universities and is located in
Worcester, Massachusetts.
