2019 Annual Meeting of the Society for Mathematical Biology
The 2019 SMB Annual Meeting is right around the corner! This year the meeting will be held in Montreal, Canada from July 22–26, 2019. The conference is organized by the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM, www.crm.umontreal.ca/en) and will be held on the beautiful campus of the Université de Montréal.
The conference theme is “From genome to biome”. The plenary speakers are:

The Conference will run from Sunday July 21 to Friday July 26 Midday. Scientific activities will run from Monday July 22 morning to Friday July 26.

- Sunta Fe Institue Complex System Summer School, June 05-July 09, 2019, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. An intensive four-week introduction to complex behavior in mathematical, physical, living, and social systems for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and professionals.
- 11th Annual Summer Institute in Statistics and Modeling in Infectious Diseases (SISMID), July 8-24, 2019. University of Washington, Seattle to introduce infectious disease researchers to modern methods of statistical analysis and mathematical modeling and to introduce statisticians and mathematical modelers to the statistical and dynamic problems posed by modern infectious disease data.
- Workshop on Network Inference in Biology and Disease, 10-13 September, 2019, Naples, Italy brings together experts from different disciplines to present and discuss their latest findings in using network inference and network integration for modeling the complexity of biological systems at the molecular dynamic and genetic levels.
Calls for Papers for a PLOS Cross-Journal Collection in Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Disease Dynamics
PLOS ONE, PLOS Biology and PLOS Computational Biology have announced a call for papers in Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Disease Dynamics, where submissions will be included in a Collection bringing together different disciplines such as mathematics, biology, medicine and physics.

Funding Opportunities
The NSF Mathematical Biology Program supports research in areas of applied and computational mathematics with relevance to the biological sciences. Full proposal date window is August 20, 2019 – September 5, 2019.
The multi-agency Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases program supports research on the ecological, evolutionary, and social principles and processes that influence the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases. Full proposal date is November 20, 2019.
Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience (CRCNS). Computational neuroscience provides a theoretical foundation and a rich set of technical approaches for understanding complex neurobiological systems, building on the theory, methods, and findings of computer science, neuroscience, and numerous other disciplines. Full proposal date is November 25, 2019.
The NIH Academy offers trainees the opportunity to learn about health disparities, enhance their knowledge of gaps in health outcomes, and investigate what is being done to address health disparity issues. The Application for the 2019-2020 program opened in May 2019.
