Virginia Tech, Clemson University, and Emory University are hosting the fourth annual Mathematics- Opportunities in Research and Education (MORE) workshop October 8-9, 2022 on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia with a satellite workshop at Emory University on October 8. The workshop will be hybrid (in-person/virtual), but in-person participation is highly encouraged. Please share this announcement with your students and encourage all mathematics (and similar) majors to apply.
MORE will bring together undergraduate students interested in mathematical sciences to learn about opportunities in mathematics research and education. In addition to learning about opportunities to progress in the field of mathematics, students will participate in hands-on activities and engage collaboratively in working on hot topics in mathematics. The workshop will feature invited speakers, activities, and panels on topics important to undergraduates. Throughout the workshop, students will have the opportunity to engage with faculty, graduate students, and postdocs, among others with careers in mathematics.
For those interested in participating at Virginia Tech: Funding is available for lodging and other travel costs (such as mileage to and from Virginia Tech from a reasonable distance). All meals will be provided.
For those interested in participating at Emory University: Parking is free, and meals on October 8 will be provided.
Please note your preferred location on your application. First generation college students and students from underrepresented groups in the mathematical sciences are especially encouraged to apply. The deadline for Applications is Thursday, September 15 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
