Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, open rank, tenure track faculty position in the Department of Mathematics that begins August 2023. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate level Mathematics courses.
Lead in the ongoing refinement and improvement of the new Calculus for the Life Sciences course that we will begin offering for the first time in fall semester 2023.
Contribute Professional Service to the department, college, university and/or the professional community.
Establish and maintain a program of research that includes regular publication in peer-reviewed journals and ongoing efforts to obtain external research funding.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.Required Qualifications Include
Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent, in mathematics or applied mathematics with a research emphasis in modelling biological and/or ecological systems.
A demonstrated potential and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate level mathematics courses ranging from general education courses through more advanced mathematics courses.
A strong commitment to inclusive teaching practices and student success and a desire to invest deeply in KSU students.
Research experience in the modelling of biological and/or ecological systems and a record (commensurate with career stage) of scholarly products produced from such research.
Preferred Qualifications IncludePost-doctoral experience
A record of interdisciplinary research in collaboration with the life sciences.
Strong potential for obtaining external research funding (for applicants at the assistant professor level).
Prior success in obtaining external research funding (for applicants at the associate or full professor level).
Experience in developing or teaching undergraduate mathematics courses for students majoring in the life sciences.
Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community.
