The Kim Lab (http://mathsci.kaist.ac.kr/~jaekkim/) at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)’s Department of Mathematical Sciences has two postdoctoral positions available in the area of mathematical biology.
One postdoctoral fellow will work on a HFSP-funded project (http://www.hfsp.org/funding/research-grants): development of a mathematical model and performing data analysis to investigate the function of the circadian clock to mediate sleep-regulated neurophysiology and cognition in collaboration.
The other postdoctoral fellow will work on a Samsung foundation-funded project (http://www.samsungstf.or.kr/main/main/openMain.do?defaultLocale=en): development of inference methods for dynamic network structure from oscillatory timeseries data.
All these projects are based on collaboration with experimental labs of optogenetics, circadian clock and sleep in USA, Germany and Netherland. The positions will allow both the flexibility of developing and leading individual projects (see http://mathsci.kaist.ac.kr/~jaekkim/research.html for previous works in the lab).
Salary and benefits including health insurances are competitive (>$50,000). Candidates should have experience in the mathematical modeling of biological systems and an understanding of biochemical kinetics and cell biology. Data analysis experience is recommended, but not required.
