The University of Utah invites applications for grant-funded postdoc positions to do research with Professor Aaron Fogelson in modeling of blood clotting, developing computational methods to study those models, and applying the models to understand diverse clotting-related problems including clot formation during atrial fibrillation, clot formation on bio-prosthetic heart valves, bleeding severity during hemophilia, reversal of anti-coagulant effects using pro-hemostatic drugs, and optimizing design features of artificial platelets. All projects involve close collaboration with life scientists and engineers. In some projects, the challenges are more in the modeling, in others, more in computing, so we are interested in persons with excellent skills in one or both of these areas. Excellent communications skills are a definite plus. Start dates are negotiable between early 2022 and Fall 2022.
