Postdoctoral position in computational systems physiology or bioengineering

The Schnell Lab at the University of Michigan Medical School’s Department of Molecular & Integrative Physiology in collaboration with the Prechter Bipolar Research Program and the Computational Human Artificial Intelligence (CHAI) Lab in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering has a postdoctoral fellowship position available in the areas of Mathematical Biology or Computer Science & Systems Engineering. This fellow will work in the field of mobile technology that is centered around gathering a wide range of physiological data from wearables in combination with speech and clinical data sampled at regular frequencies over the course of the for the human subject participant. The positions will allow both the flexibility of developing and leading individual projects as well as working as a team member in a diverse and dynamic team focused on developing predictive patterns in bipolar disorder.

Candidates should have experience in the mathematical modeling and numerical solutions of differential equations, parameter estimation, and an understanding of human physiology. These positions would suit individuals who have a PhD in engineering, or applied mathematics. Candidates must have experience writing publications, excellent communication skills and have a strong work ethic. These positions are available for up to four years. They will be renewed annually subject to satisfactory performance. Salary level is determined by the number of full years of relevant postdoctoral experience at the NIH NRSA scale.

The positions are full-time. Applicants are advised that they will undergo standard pre-employment screening for medical school and health care system. The candidate is encouraged to write a brief proposal outlining how they can contribute to our projects and what they would like to do in our research group.
