Caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the pandemic of
coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread to more than 218 countries and territories and
led to over 254 million confirmed cases and over 5.1 million fatalities by the end of 2021. Gigantic
computational and mathematical studies have been conducted in biophysics and biochemical to
accelerate COVID-19 research on SARS-CoV-2 virus evolution, virus infectivity, mutation impacts in
vaccine/antibody escape, therapeutic medicine, rational drug discovery, drug repurposing, vaccine
design, antibody therapy design, etc. To provide a fast publication channel for such studies, the
journal Computational and Mathematical Biophysics (CMB) will publish a special issue on SARS-CoV-2 sequence and structure-based analysis in drug discovery and virus evolution”. This special
issue will also focus on the recent development of computational and data science modeling
techniques with reference to the COVID-19 pandemic.Potential topics of this special include, but are not limited to:
· Drug discovery, repurposing, protein-protein interaction networks
· Analysis of cell-type deconvolution, gene regulatory networks
· Virus evolution mechanism, mutations, natural selection
· Mutation impacts on vaccine breakthroughs, antibody therapies
· Drug design, delivery, and vaccine design
· Mathematical and machine learning modeling, scoring functions
· Molecular dynamics, molecular dockingImportant Dates
