    Dear SMB Community,

    The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Cleveland State University has an opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Applied Statistics, Data Analytics, or Bioinformatics. The starting date of the appointment is August 17, 2020. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers B.S., B.A., and M.S. degrees in Mathematics, and an M.S. in Mathematics with a Specialization in Applied Statistics. The University, College of Sciences and Health Professions, and Department seek to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. The successful applicant is expected to carry out an active program of research in applied statistics, data analytics, or bioinformatics, to seek external funding, and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in department, college, and university service.

    Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. earned by July 1, 2020 in mathematics or statistics; an active research program in applied statistics, data analytics, or bioinformatics; strong communication skills; a commitment to making a positive contribution to CSU’s diverse community.

    Preferred Qualifications: A strong research program in applied statistics, data analytics, or bioinformatics; research that complements or overlaps with the Department’s existing areas of research strength; a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students; experience with innovative methods of instruction and assessment; a research agenda open to across-campus and off-campus collaborations; evidence of a substantial contribution to a successful academic event, initiative, or ongoing activity; the ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.

    Candidates will be asked for contact information for three or more references; they will be contacted by CSU with a request to submit letters of recommendation.     Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. This hiring is contingent on maintaining the existing levels of funding from the State of Ohio.
