The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Utah State University invites applications for two 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Mathematical Biology with an estimated starting date of August 1, 2021. One of the positions is intended for a probabilist working in biological, ecological, or environmental applications, while the other is open to candidates applying more general computational or analytic techniques to problems in the life sciences. We seek individuals that complement and enhance the current strengths of our Mathematical Biology group (http://math.usu.edu/research/) and focus on establishing interdisciplinary collaboration with environmental and life scientists.

The Mathematical Biology group specializes in data-driven, computational, multi-disciplinary research using mathematical tools to investigate current questions in living systems. The group maintains active collaborations in biology, ecology, engineering, and natural resources, and students have numerous opportunities to apply mathematics in the context of important biological, environmental, and ecological challenges.

We have an interest in candidates focusing on data-driven mathematical modeling, uncertainty quantification, or with expertise in stochastic modeling, analysis, and simulation of problems in connection to applications in Biology.
